Around the Neighborhood - Seward - 14 July 2026
SEWARD - July is bringing our home loss and love. We were able to attend a graduation party for my cousin Kenton on Friday. Kenton is going to college for cyber security. On Saturday we were able to go to Morris for a graduation party, for another cousin, Zackary. Zackary is starting work on a farm. He will learn the day to day operation of being a farmer.
With the good unfortunately sometimes comes the bad. Uncle George passed away last week. He was a very kind man with a smile to light a room. He will be missed. He may not be my blood, but he allowed me to call him Uncle George ♡
Many of you readers know Richard Smith. He was a good man to look up to. I got to know Mr. Smith three years ago, through the Farm Bureau. Mr. Smith had a life of devotion. He served in many roles and touched many lives.
Our Mustang went for her first inspection , with us as her owners. Thank you to PJs automotive in Cobleskill. It is a great place to have a vehicle worked on. The staff is amazing and definitely people you can trust.
The Mill Pond will host the public policy meeting for Farm Bureau members ,on July 16th, at 6 p.m. please RSVP to Todd, if you have not already. You will choose off the menu and pay for your meal. It will be a night of great discussion. If you are a Schoharie County Farm Bureau member, I would like to talk with you. We are setting up a booth at the Sunshine fair. Move in day is August 8. We would love to display information about local members. Your farm, your business and possibly you! If you wish to man the booth please let me know.
This past Saturday, was our first Festival Farmers Market of the season. I missed seeing the other farmers in the group. I also missed seeing customers I have gotten to know. If you cane down, thank you!
If you live in Seward and surrounding areas, this may be for you. There will be a Town Wide Garage Sale day. The day is August 29. If you would like to be part of it, please call the town. Mrs. Southworth can add you to the map. She will need your address and a list of what you are selling. If you would like to set up at the Town Barn, there will be a fee of $10. This will also be on the county website.
The town still has open vacancies on boards. The Planning Board has two open spots. One spot ends 12/31/2028. The other spot ends on 12/31/2030. There is one position on the Board of Assessment Review. That position ends on 9/30/2026. If you have interest in any position please reach out to the town.
The Board of Directors is hosting a meeting on Friday July 17, at 9:00 a.m. This meeting will be on the third floor. The meeting is open to the public. I have to say my 40's are teaching me so much. I had no idea of the different organizations you could join. Where to go to help. Who to go to get help. There are many things I missed. If you feel I lept over you, it was not the fact of being rude, it is the fact that I am learning. I wish I had a class on towns , counties, and organizations. There is so much to learn, I am trying my best. Sometimes I feel like I am drowning. I am learning as much as I can.
Stand up for what you believe in. Love those that love you. Enjoy every day ♡
