Brief Meeting For Supervisors
DELHI - Delaware County Supervisors held a brief meeting on May 13th, during which they accepted grant awards.
The Department of Emergency Services received $689,655 from the State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. Funds will be used to develop and operate a fiber-optic network for the 911 call center, as well as to make improvements to the network.
The health services department was awarded a $29,448 grant from the State Department of Health. Funds will be used to develop a sensory corner at the Delaware Opportunities Head Start Program and to purchase seven mobile sensory cars for other Head Start programs. Funds will also be used for educational outreach on sensory-safe space available at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
The county Youth Bureau received a $4,230 grant to help fund annual employee trainings.
In other business, Chair of the Supervisors Board, Tina Molé, thanked Planning and Watershed Affairs Director Shelly Johnson-Bennett, Watershed Affairs Coordinator Nick Carbone, and other county staff for the successful watershed tour earlier in the week.
“I’m speechless at how great that went,” said Molé, “We had so many dignitaries here, what a great opportunity we had to show off Delaware County and all that we do here to protect the water.”
Representatives from the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, the Department of Health, and the Department of State all attended.
A Roxbury tax grievance by Gerd Stoeckel and Dina Lerman was approved. Refunds totaling $3,191.56 for 2024 and $3,243.95 will be issued.
Middletown Supervisor Glen Faulkner was absent.
The next regular board of supervisors meeting is scheduled Wednesday, May 27, at 1 p.m.
