Catskill Mountain Little League Holds Opening Day Ceremony
Robinson-Broadhurst and Catskill Mountain Little League officials gather around the dedication plaque that is now in place at the Field of Dreams, during last Saturday's opening ceremonies. STAMFORD – The t-ball players gathered at the center of the field to issue the call to "play ball" after the playing of the National Anthem on Saturday as the Catskill Mountain Little held its opening day ceremonies at the Field of Dreams complex. It was the 55th annual opening ceremony.
Don VanEtten, president and board member of the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation threw out the first pitch as t-ball players, major and minor little league players and major and minor softball players gathered to officially open their season.
Collin Miller announced the teams as they paraded onto the field. Bill Abbatine, league president, thanked the Robinson-Broadhurst Foundation, all of the sponsors and all who have donated to the establishment of the fields. They all gathered around a plaque, the field dedicated in April 2024 and named for the Robinsons.
Work continued on the clubhouse and the teams were anxious to get the season started.
