Catskill Recreation Center Cycle Challenge Marks 10 Years
ARKVILLE — Nearly 100 cyclists gathered in Arkville Saturday for the 10th anniversary of the Catskill Recreation Center Cycle Challenge. Beginning at 8 a.m., riders set out on 29-, 50- and 100-mile routes winding through the valleys and mountain communities of southeastern Delaware County.
Partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 60s provided favorable conditions for the Labor Day weekend ride, which began and ended at the Catskill Recreation Center.
The first cyclists to complete the 100-mile challenge returned together after 5 hours and 13 minutes. Andes residents Paul Eisele and Mark Fisher finished alongside Jeremy Scheid of New Jersey, bringing the three riders back to Arkville together after the event's longest course.
