Schoharie County Office of Community Services requests proposals for projects utilizing Opioid Settlement Funds

Schoharie -   The Schoharie County Office of Community Services is accepting Requests for Proposals (RFP) for Opioid Settlement Funding. Up to $204,000 will be awarded to community-based organizations, non-for-profit agencies, and businesses to help address overdoses and substance-use disorders in the community through prevention, treatment and recovery services.  Sarah Nies, Director of Community Services, said “she is excited to see what solutions can be found within the community around the opioid crisis in Schoharie County.  This is an opportunity for the community to come together and come up with solutions for its residents.”  Nies added that this crisis impacts all of us.  “Recovery is more than abstinence and symptom reduction,’ she said.  “We need to be about people, place, and purpose in recovery.” 

Justin Hamm, Executive Director at Schoharie County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (SCCASA), also emphasized his support. “In order for Schoharie County to continue to combat the opioid crisis there needs to be a continued collaborative approach between prevention education, treatment, and recovery services.  These dollars will help us fill in the gaps in services along the continuum of care,” Hamm said.

The RFP is available for review and applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with evaluation of proposals to be completed by the committee as applications are submitted. Once selected, the successful applicants will then be presented to the Schoharie County Board of Supervisors for contracts.  Applicants will be asked to target at least 1 of the approved uses from the “Schedule C Approved Uses” document that can be found on the county website along with the RFP. Additionally, work for the award must be completed in Schoharie County.
