Summer Reading & Arts Kickoff Featuring The Rubber Band at Schoharie Library June 18
The Rubber Band will bring their unique brand of foot-stomping, toe-tapping Cajun music to the Schoharie Library on Thursday, June 18, 5-7pm!
SCHOHARIE - The Rubber Band will bring their unique brand of foot-stomping, toe-tapping Cajun music to the Schoharie Library on Thursday, June 18, 5-7pm!* Everyone is invited to celebrate summer with a great concert on the lawn, fun activities for children, crafts, and Summer Reading Program signups. Food will be available for purchase from local favorites Gumbo de Ma Mere and High on the Hog BBQ. All are welcome, admission is free and no registration is necessary.
The Rubber Band consists of Jack Dupont on accordion and vocals, Larry Mazza on guitar, Clemens McGiver on bass and vocals, Jon Mix on drums and vocals, Chuck Matteson on vocals and percussion, Tom White on fiddle and vocals, and Kristina Johnson on saxophone. A favorite for their joyful, vibrant performances, they thrill and delight audiences of all ages with everything from high energy romps to smooth waltzes.
This event also launches A Kaleidoscope of Arts*, a series of programs featuring music, pottery decorating, drawing, painting, block printing, silk dyeing, and crazy quilting. These programs will be held throughout summer and fall of 2026.

The Schoharie Library’s Summer Reading Program includes Discovery Tuesdays July 7 - August 11 at 10am; Art Wednesdays* July 8 at 1pm and July 22, 29, and August 5 at 1:30pm; Teen Thursdays* July 9 & 16, August 6 & 13, times vary; Storytime every Friday and Fun Fridays with the Schoharie County Youth Bureau weekly July 10-31, 10am-12pm; and Cool Jazz with the Burke Herrick Quartet*: Thursday, July 30, 5pm. The Schoharie Library is located at 103 Knower Avenue, Schoharie; the parking lot and handicap accessible main entrance are on Bridge Street, with on-street parking on Knower Avenue. The Summer Reading and Arts Kickoff Party will take place on the lawn; some tables and chairs will be available under the tents, but lawn chairs and picnic blankets are recommended.
