Vintage Home Opener Supports Skene Library
On an immaculate spring afternoon in Fleischmanns, the home team was downed by the Westfield Wheelmen visiting from the Berkshires by a score of 21-11. Despite the shellacking, the crowd was treated to the unveiling of a new display featuring MAC history items during a pre-game ceremony.
“It’s been incredibly fulfilling to work on this project contributing to the rich history of ash trees, lumber and baseball,” said Micheal Asbill of “Project Collapse” - a series of public art installations documenting the decline of iconic Catskill tree species.
In accepting the gift, John Duda said, “The Library is happy to accept this special gift in honor of Roy Todd, our recently departed friend and longtime Trustee and contributor to this project.”
The display features among other items, a replica jersey of the MAC from 1900 and an 1897 photo of the Club donated by Jane Kelly Ebberts - grandaughter of former Griffin Corner postmaster John Kelly.
The M.A.C. continue their season on Sunday, May 31st at 2pm when they take on the Polecat Base Ball Club at Crawford Field on Launt Hollow Rd in the Town of Hamden. The game will support the Schoolhouse Museum.
