Coffee in Coby - War in Europe CXXXVI

Over the past several weeks, Kyiv has endeavored to make Russian-seized Crimea an uncomfortable place to occupy through a crippling bombardment of all logistics routes into the peninsula: the strategy is working.

A multipronged attack on Russian access points, electric plants, military stations, oil refineries, and shadow fleet tankers, Kyiv has increasingly made life unbearable in the one-time crown jewel of despot Vladimir Putin’s illegal, immoral invasion of Ukraine.

Instead of being a summer paradise for Russian vacationers, the peninsula is now one of the hottest parts of the entire Russo-Ukrainian War and is plagued by fuel shortages, power outages, and traffic logjams as desperate Russians try to cross Kerch Bridge.

Just this week, Kyiv eliminated twenty-one Russian vessels transporting oil to Crimea in the Sea of Azov over a seventy-two-hour period. War analyst Anatoliy Shariy described the strikes as “…sheer destruction.”

Wedded with increasingly bold drone strikes on Moscow proper, Kyiv has not only shifted the war in their direction through a more aggressive military posture thus far in 2026 but they have finally brought the war home to every day Russians after four years.

No longer can the protected class of Putin’s Muscovites bury their head in the sand as tens of thousands of their comrades perish monthly, Ukrainian drones are surpassing Russian aerial defenses to impact their city, and Crimean paradise has become a living hell.

While I am not naïve enough to guess or predict what breaking points may or may not exist for Russians, I would like to assume they are finally realizing there are consequences to invading your neighbors and that they are steadily losing momentum in this war.

With that said, you know what happens to those who make assumptions.

Amazing 250th

If you were near the Village of Middleburgh this past Friday, then you already know what I am going to say: our 250th Community Celebration was simply awesome. Many hands make like work and this event’s success was due to so many individuals and organizations working together to make it so, and I was truly proud to have been part of this celebration.

In Solidarity with Ukraine.

Greetings! I am planning a “mailbag” edition of Coffee in Coby soon, so please send any questions you may have for me about Schoharie County politics, the Atlanta Braves 2021 World Series title or whatever else, and it might just be included. My email is timothycknight93@gmail.com. Cheerio!
