Why Advertise

Self-service advertising for readers, families, and local businesses

Most advertising starts with a free member account. Individuals can place announcements and classifieds directly, while business display ads, companion ads, and patron profiles are connected to an advertiser company or organization.

Ads are created and paid through Stripe before publication. Staff can help if someone gets stuck, but the intended path is self-service so copy, creative, payment, publication, and print handling stay attached to the same record.

How ad types are organized

Individual announcements and classifieds are simple; business ads connect to an advertiser group.

Announcements

Obituaries, births, graduations, and engagements are individual-focused and do not require a business or advertiser group.

Classifieds

Classified ads are also direct self-service placements for members and subscribers.

Business ads

Print display ads, companion ads, and patron profiles are tied to an advertiser company or organization.

Print-to-digital bridge

Print ads can create companion web pages with share links and QR codes so readers can act after seeing the paper.

Pay before publication

Self-service ads publish online after payment and then move through staff print handling when print is included.

Staff support when needed

Staff can answer questions and recover stalled drafts, while customers remain the people creating and paying for their own ads.

Role boundary: Patron accounts are intentionally separated from publishing authority to prevent editorial-commerce conflicts and keep trust boundaries clear. Active members may submit content drafts for staff review, but staff controls publication. Individual announcements and classifieds remain available without becoming a patron.

Self-service ad workflow

The same clear path applies whether the ad is a family announcement, classified, notice, or business placement.
