FLEISHMANNS - Following a public hearing, Fleishmanns Village Trustees adopted the 2026-2027 budget of $1,364,528. The budget remains under the state-mandated tax cap, with an 1.04% increase. Trustees Miguel Martinez-Riddle and Aaron Goldring were absent.
The budget includes a total increase of $58,653 over the actual expenses from the 2025-2026 budget. A total of $442,809 will be raised by taxes, with $99,255 of that for the sewer district.
During public comment, former mayor Winifred Zubin raised several concerns about line items, including a significant decrease in liability, property insurance, and building maintenance.
Insurance is budgeted at $20,000, down from $35,000 in the previous fiscal year's modified budget. Building maintenance is budgeted at $26,250, compared with a modified previous-year budget of $45,000.
Mayor Sam Gil noted the concerns and said he would check with bookkeeping by the end of the month. He did state, “I want to make sure we have the best insurance for Fleishmanns.” He then noted that less maintenance would be needed this year.
CHIPS funds have not yet been finalized, as the state continues to delay its budget process.
“Things are increasing, and we tried to make the budget as tight as it could be,” Gil concluded.
In other business, the tennis courts will remain locked for this season, with a key available at Sam’s Country Store at 1293 Main Street.
Trustees are seeking a renter for the concession stand near the park. They are discussing rent at $650.
The Fleishmanns Street Fair is scheduled for Sunday, May 24th, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The next regular trustee meeting is scheduled Monday, June 8, at 6 p.m.
