MARGARETVILLE - Following a public hearing, the Margaretville Village Board opted to table the discussion on a proposed law regulating food trucks. Trustees hope to include language stating that trucks may be parked only in licensed areas when in use. Additional public hearings may be necessary before the law can be passed.
If passed, the law includes a one-time $100 fee per location. The fee covers a site plan review and aligns with Middletown’s laws. If the truck parks at that location once a year, they can continue that license without additional fees, explained Mayor Hubbell.
Trustees will also review time stipulations, potentially including an operational cut-off at 11 p.m.
One resident, Marc Osterweil, spoke at the public hearing in favor of supporting food trucks in the village. They noted the importance of regulations on parking and licensing, but explained that food trucks were overall beneficial for residents and visitors.
NY Forward Grant
Margaretville was recently awarded a $4.5 Million grant through NY Forward. Funds will be used for major downtown revitalization projects.
Projects that were outlined in the grant application will be required to reapply once a committee is established. Hubbell is hopeful the process will begin in June.

Other Business
The village was named in a lawsuit stemming from an incident in which an individual fell at 520 Main Street in February.
Trustees agreed to permit an individual who will receive a $1,500 bill from a basement water leak to pay on a payment plan.
A second annual block party is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th.
A Department of Public Works truck struck a deer, and the estimated damage is $8,166.02.
Hubbell is working on the drinking water source protection grant program, which is in the final stages. The program will provide a comprehensive water plan that will assist with future grant opportunities, he said.
Mayor Hubbell will be absent from the next regular trustee meeting on Tuesday, June 16 at 5 p.m.
