The Ladies Aid of the West Kill United Methodist Church would like to thank everyone who came to our fundraiser bake sale table at the Lexington Farmers Market on July 4.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to all who won trophies and participated in the many parades and July 4th festivities.

Worship service will be held at the West Kill UMC, Spruceton Road, West Kill at 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, (none on July 19), July 26 and Aug. 2, Aug. 9, and Aug. 16.  There will be no services those Sundays in the Lexington/West Kill UMC in Lexington.

There will be a joint worship service on Sunday, July 19 at 10 a.m. in the North Settlement Church.  All are welcome to attend.

Friday, July 17 is the next potluck Dinner Church at 6 p.m. at the Lexington/West Kill UMC, Lexington.  All are welcomed.

The next Lexington Farmers Market, Saturday, July 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is Community Resources Day and the Farmers Market vendors will be joined by organizations that have a role to help others and the environment.  Health Care is a Human Right will offer free massage, Reiki and acupuncture in the Municipal Building.  Also at the market will be Prattsville Arts Center; Greene County Public Health and Health on Wheels; Health Care is a Human Right (with practitioners); Mountain Top Cares; Hunter Public Library; Cornell Cooperative Extension; Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership; Greene County Food Security Coalition; Catskill Mountain Club; Western Catskills; West Kill Lexington Community Hall and Together for Youth. Of course the regular vendors will have fresh local produce, cheeses, mushrooms, baked goods and more.   The Lexington Farmers Market is held under the pavilion at the Lexington Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, Lexington every other Saturday.

Stop by the Hunter Public Library, 7965 Main Street, Hunter and pick up museum passes for the Iroquois Museum.  Museum passes also available for The USS Slater—free admission for two adults and two children.  Chess Day is Monday, July 20 so come to the library and play a game of chess. Make your own free sundae on Wednesday, July 22 at 1 p.m.  Dog Photograph Day is July 26.  Send the library a picture of your dog pet dressed up by July 20.  Pictures will be put on library’s Facebook page.  Send to directorhunterlibrary@gmail.com.

Greene County Public Health Mobile Unit will be parking at the Mountain Top Library, 6093 Main Street, Tannersville, 518-589-5707, on Mondays this summer from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for education, screenings, free supplies and outreach.

Thursday, July 23 through Sunday, July 26 is the Greene County Youth Fair, Angelo Canna Park, Cairo. Opening Ceremony is Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with Greene County Youth Awards, closing at 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with fireworks Saturday night at closing and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  For further info go to www.thegreenecountyyouthfair.com.

Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the 16th annual Thunder in the Mountains Car Show hosted by the West Kill/Lexington Community Improvement Association on the grounds of the Lexington Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, Lexington.  Trophies are awarded, 50/50 raffle, gift basket raffle, food and beverages for a fun filled day.  Vehicles 1995 or newer will have their own class.  If you would like to donate a gift basket highlighting your business or family or even have an interesting item or two that can be used to enhance a basket that will be put together for the raffle, please call Mary at 518-989-6813.  A few basket ideas: Kids Art Basket, Gourmet Food, Kids Activities, Home Improvement, Knitting, Wine Lovers, Craft Drinks, Fitness/Wellness, Date Night, Outdoor Adventure are a few suggestions.

Greene County Department of Human Services will be holding Senior Day 2026 on September 4 at One Main Street, Catskill 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Come together and enjoy lunch, vendors and see Luke Barnhart’s Live Elvis Tribute Show.  It is the Department of Aging’s 50th anniversary.  Online or by phone RSVP by Aug. 14 at 518-719-3574 or https://www.eventbrite.com/events/1984964462140.

The Greene County Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of July 13 – July 17 is as follows: Monday—Broccoli cheddar fish, O’Brien potatoes, peas and carrots, tropical fruit; Tuesday—Chicken Parmesan, spaghetti, spinach, Italian mixed vegetables, pears; Wednesday—Salisbury steak, meatballs, Capri vegetable mix, egg noodles, chocolate chip cookies; Thursday—Roast turkey dinner with gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie; Friday—Egg salad plate, marinated cucumbers and tomatoes, cold beet salad, V8 Juice, watermelon.  All persons 60 and older are invited to attend.  Meals served at noon, suggested $4 donation for each meal.  Congregate reservations are required by noon at least a day in advance.  If you reserve a meal and are unable to attend, please call as soon as you can to cancel.  The number to call for the Senior Service Center at the Jewett Municipal Building, 3547 Route 23C, Jewett is 518-263-4392.
