SCHOHARIE — Voters in the Schoharie Central School District overwhelmingly approved the district's 2026-27 operating budget and all three accompanying propositions during the annual vote on Tuesday.
The primary ballot item, Proposition 1, authorized a school district operating budget of $29,755,185 for the upcoming academic year. The measure passed with 226 voters casting "yes" ballots compared to 90 "no" votes.
District voters also gave strong support to Proposition 2, which authorizes school bus purchases, by a margin of 231 to 86. Proposition 3, establishing a $183,000 library tax levy, passed with 221 votes in favor and 96 opposed. The final fiscal measure, Proposition 4, which greenlights a new capital project, also secured approval with a 213 to 103 vote.
In the Board of Education trustee election, two candidates ran unopposed to fill two open seats for three-year terms. John Florussen led the balloting with 255 votes, while Jessica Kirby secured her seat with 217 votes. No other candidates filed to run in the election.
