The Roxbury Arts Group Focuses on Folk Art this Fall with the Everybody’s Art Group Exhibition at Headwaters Arts Center Starting Sept. 5

STAMFORD ––This fall, the Roxbury Arts Group is celebrating traditional arts through a special open call exhibition and a series of workshops spotlighting traditional art forms.

Everybody’s Art, an exhibition of folk and traditional art at Headwaters Arts Center, will run September 5–October 31, 2026, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 5, 2026, 4–6p. This exhibit explores themes rich in cultural and personal history and showcases artwork by 22 emerging and established, local and regional artists. By including several contemporary artists working in traditional forms, the exhibition also demonstrates the dynamic nature of folk art -as materials, themes, and techniques evolve to reflect current cultural realities. The opening event is free and open to all. For or more information contact headwaters@roxburyartsgroup.org or https://roxburyartsgroup.org/exhibitions/everybodys-art.

This exhibition includes a wide variety of mediums including painting, textile, sculpture, ceramics, assemblage, and mixed-media installation. The participating artists include: Paul Joseph Adamo, Normandy Alden, Amanda Cheung, Nancy C Connolly, Anne DeSimone, Elizabeth Dimon, Denise Giardullo, Anne Gohorel, Annie Hayes, Scott Keidong, Kaitlyn Lanza, Joanne Lentner, Renee Lewis Stanley, Jon McCormack, Mary McFerran, Janell O'Rourke, Donna Maria Ramirez, David Schaengold, Anne Smith, Barbara A Smith, Chris Vollor, Siyan Wong

Continuing the exploration of folk art, the creative learning programming at Headwaters Arts Center this fall includes Welcome Blanket Quilting with Megan Avery for the Welcome Blanket project; Spoon Carving with Michael McCarthy; and the return of Rug Hooking with Annie Hayes. These workshops are an excellent opportunity for community members to engage creatively with folk art, helping these art forms continue to thrive.
