BOVINA - The Bovina Town Council awarded Green Lumber Company LP the bid of $80,075 for the logging of town-owned property behind the transfer station.
The council hired a Watershed Agricultural Council certified forester, Jim Curtis, to mark trees available for logging on the 64-acre property. WAC foresters are certified to minimize water-quality damage and erosion, and to ensure the property's regeneration. Curtis will receive 15% of the revenue from logging, and the town retains the remainder.
Town officials agreed to exclude areas behind Yankee Road to address constituents' concerns.
