CFD Introduces New Digital Alerting Technology to Improve Roadway Safety (Open House)

Schoharie County Cobleskill Fire Department, Cobleskill, NY Captured October 17, 2026 4 photos

COBLESKILL — The Cobleskill Fire Department & Rescue Squad added a powerful new tool to help protect both responders and motorists on our local roadways. The department recently implemented HAAS Alter Safety Cloud, a digital alerting system that sends real-time notifications to drivers when emergency vehicles are responding to calls or operating on scene. The technology has reduced collision risks by as much as 90%. The safety cloud sends alerts to commercial drivers and newer vehicles through Fleetworthy’s transportation network. Brian Head, President of the Cobleskill Fire Department said, When our emergency lights are activated, Safety Cloud gives drivers critical extra time to recognize our presence and react safely. By combining technology with public awareness, we are creating safer roads for everyone.

This upgrade was made possible through the generosity of Cobleskill Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Their support helped bring this life-saving technology to our community. The department would also like to acknowledge the cooperation of both the Village of Cobleskill and the Town of Cobleskill for working together to make this enhancement a reality.

There was a lot of community engagement at the Fire Prevention Open House. The department shared this advancement with the community during its open house that was held on Saturday. Families toured the firehouse, met with firefighters, auxiliary members, EMS support and learned hands-on safety tips. They also got to meet Reyes, K9 and Officer Carlianne Ferretti. It was fun for the entire family. Bike helmets were handed out, and child-safe ID’s were made by the Sheriff Department. This event was a great success. If you want to make a difference in the community, please stop by on Wednesday’s late afternoon and apply to volunteer.
