"12 Freedoms of Democracy" Watercolor Exhibit Closes July 24th with Live Music at Sidney Memorial Public Library

SIDNEY, NY — As the nation celebrates its 250th year, Sidney Memorial Public Library is hosting "12 Freedoms of Democracy," a series of large-scale watercolor murals by artist Mark Strodl, on view through July 24th in the library's fully air-conditioned gallery space.

The exhibit poses a timely question: What are our freedoms? Rather than offering simple answers, it explores the ideals, responsibilities, and tensions that define American democracy, inviting viewers to reflect on freedom, civic responsibility, and the conversations we often avoid.

It is an invitation to think, to question, and to engage with one another through art.

Children visiting the exhibit can pick up a free watercolor kit and try their own hand at the medium, making the show a family-friendly stop throughout its run.
