SCS to Add Distance Learning Classes

SCHOHARIE - Schoharie high school is adding several distance learning classes for the fall semester, it was announced at the April school board meeting.

At their April 23 board meeting, Superintendent David Blanchard said that the district is adding the following DL classes: Anatomy and Physiology, American Sign Language 1. Financial Accounting, AP Psychology, AP world history, Business Law/Personal Finance, crime in literature, Women in American History, Foundations of Education UHS, and Education for Diverse Populations a university in the high school course.

The district worked hard to share classes with other districts who have similar bell schedules, Mr. Blanchard said. DL classes originate from other districts with interactive cameras and audio.

In other action, board members:

* Approved the following donations: a $500 check from Stewart's Foundation (Stewart's Holiday Match program) to the elementary school PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) and $2 in cash donation to the Schoharie elementary library.

* Heard Mr. Blanchard say that third through fifth grade students recently took state exams. He thanked those involved in helping getting the students ready for the testing.
