STAMFORD — Each July, Roxbury Arts Group transforms the historic Main Street of Stamford into a dynamic performance space for Porchfest: Music+Arts (previously the Headwaters Music and Arts Festival). This year's rain-or-shine celebration takes place Saturday, July 18 from 2-6 PM, and the call is out for performers of all kinds to claim a spot on stage (or a porch, or a storefront). Roxbury Arts Group is accepting applications through June 13 at https://roxburyartsgroup.org/open-calls; accepted performers will receive performance slot assignment by June 20 and be paid a stipend at the completion of their performance.
Musicians of all genres, singer-songwriters, bands, jazz trios, orchestras, one-time collaborations, dancers, street theater troupes, poets, story-tellers, magicians, clowns, circus performers, visual artists, and performance based creatives of all varieties are encouraged to apply.
The day-long festival features performances across multiple stages and outdoor spaces throughout Main Street with creative arts opportunities woven in between. This year's edition includes special attractions:
- Loco7 Dance Puppet Theatre offering performances in the park
- Giant Puppet Procession by youth in RAG's July puppet-making workshop
- Health on Wheels Food Truck serving throughout the event
- Collaborative arts and crafting opportunities for all ages
- Photography activities and community art projects
Maps and schedules will be available at various locations throughout Stamford, allowing festival-goers to wander, discover, and choose their own adventure through the performances.
Join Roxbury Arts Group in transforming Stamford's Main Street into a celebration of music, art, and community. Your porch awaits! For any questions call the Headwaters Arts Center at 607.214.6040 or email headwaters@roxburyartsgroup.org.
