TANNERSVILLE — Construction has officially begun on the Rip Van Winkle Park project in the Village of Tannersville, marking a significant milestone in the community's efforts to revitalize its recreational spaces. The $1.3 million project, funded through a New York State Department of State grant, is expected to be completed this Fall.

The upgrades will include features to enhance recreational offerings and preserve the area's natural beauty. Among the highlights are multiple parking areas, a state-of-the-art playground, an amphitheater with a fire pit for gatherings, and illuminated pathways. The park will also have picnic tables, wildflowers, bike racks, and bird nesting boxes.

The ongoing revitalization efforts at Rip Van Winkle Park, alongside the development work on the Kaaterskill Rail Trail and the introduction of pickleball courts and a splash park at Dolan's Lake, are poised to enhance recreational amenities and attract visitors, thus providing a significant boost to the local tourism sector and bolstering support for area businesses.
