HOBART — Assistant Professor of History at SUNY Oneonta, Nicole de Silva visited The Hobart Exchange on Saturday, September 26 to present the results of her recent research into the life of Anna Carroll. The venue was packed, with standing room only and some people listening from the next room. Carroll (1968-1925) has been the subject of a weeks' long celebration in Hobart, with her work as Community Photographer on display at MURAL gallery from August 22 to September 27.
Professor de Silva presented information about Carroll's early life in Roxbury, as well as the legacy that she left for future generations of Hobart residents. People stayed for more than an hour after the talk, discussing what had been shared and speculating on details of Carroll's life that are as of yet unknown. Those who might have information to share are encouraged to write to thehobartexchange@gmail.com. Special thanks to Carolyn Bennett for the information.
