MAPLECREST, N.Y. - The Hensonville Hose Company will host a community fundraiser benefiting the Dempsey family on Saturday, September 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at C.D. Lane Park in Maplecrest.
The fundraiser follows the heartbreaking loss of 12-year-old Levi Dempsey on July 31 and the serious injuries sustained by his brother, Cade. The Dempsey family is facing not only profound grief, but the significant financial challenges that can accompany medical care, travel and other unexpected expenses.
The Hensonville Hose Company organized the event to help ease some of that burden while giving friends, neighbors and the surrounding community an opportunity to come together in support of the family.
Saturday's fundraiser will feature a chicken barbecue, with chicken halves available for $10 and BBQ dinners available for $20. Dinners include a half chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob, dinner roll and brownie. Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, and sausage with peppers and onions will also be available for purchase.
The afternoon will include entertainment and activities for the entire family, including:
● Live music by Sonny Rock and the Torpedoes with special guests
● 50/50 raffle
● Silent bidding auction
● Chance auction
● K-9 demonstration
● Touch-a-Truck
● Greene County Sheriff's Office Child ID table
● Face painting
● And more
Food will be available for takeout or to enjoy at the park.
All funds raised will go directly to the Dempsey family.
The event is part of an ongoing outpouring of support from the mountaintop community for the Dempsey family. Saturday's fundraiser offers another opportunity for local residents to gather, enjoy an afternoon together and help a family navigating an extraordinarily difficult time.
