FRANKLIN — Delaware County Public Health Services will host a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats, and ferrets on Monday, June 1, 2026. The clinic is scheduled to run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin Fire Hall, located at 351 Main St. in Franklin.

Under New York State law, every dog and cat must be vaccinated against rabies, and pets are eligible for their first vaccination starting at three months of age. While the service is free, officials suggest that residents pre-register online at http://health.ny.gov/go2clinic or by using a provided QR code. Attendees are encouraged to bring previous vaccination records to determine if their pet is eligible for three-year coverage.

For safety and coordination, all dogs must be kept on a leash and under proper control, while cats and ferrets should be brought in carrying cases. The department also reminds pet owners that they are responsible for cleaning up after their animals at the volunteer facilities to avoid potential fines. The veterinarian will only be available during the advertised clinic hours.

Those requiring assistance with pre-registration or who have general questions about the clinic can contact Delaware County Public Health at 607-832-5200.
