I do hope everyone here in Gilboa are okay from last week’s rain. There was a total of four inches in the rain gauge when it finally stopped raining. I was ever so thankful that I had no water in my basement. Over a week ago flood watches were in affect for Schoharie County as well as other counties. The Gilboa Dam started spilling with that riley brown water. People were watching it flow over the dam. There was some flooding of some lower-level streams however, I did not hear of any major flooding in our Gilboa area.
I have decided to have a garage sale on September 5 here in Flat Creek, Gilboa. If anyone is interested in holding a sale at their house and would like to be on the map let me know by August 24th. Leave a message on 518 827 6390 or pickee@midtel.net.
It was a great day for the Conesville Garage sales last Saturday. I picked up my BBQ chicken at the church and then headed out to the sixteen sales that were all around. I understand the Vintage Baseball Game was a huge hit. Later on I stopped by the Gilboa Museum where I sat under the pavilion eating my tasty chicken.
Due to the high water in the Schoharie Creek the Annual Fossil Hike has been cancelled for Saturday, August 8. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 26. The Birds, Bugs & Blooms art show opening reception held to lots of interested and excited attendees as dozens of folks showed up. The exhibit goes until August 30. Not only was there food but on the porch, everyone was entertained with some live jazzy music. This coming Saturday, August 8, at 4:30pm a classic movie “The Maltese Falcon” will be shown. With Humphrey Bogart, Sidney Greenstreet, and Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, it should keep you on the edge of your seat for sure. This event is free with even some free popcorn and as always donations will be graciously accepted. See you there!
Everyone at Flat Creek Church was sorry to hear that Ed Chatfield is once again under the weather. Prays go out to him for better, healthier days ahead.

Flat Creek Baptist Church: Flat Creek Road, Gilboa with Pastor Paul Overbaugh, Sunday School 9:30am, Worship Service 10:30am. Coffee and fellowship follows in the church hall. Women’s Bible Study takes place on Thursdays 10:00am at Robinson Terrace Assisted Living Buntline Drive, Stamford.
Conesville UM Chapel: Worship service on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month.
The 2nd and 4th Sundays the Chapel is open from 9-11am for worship and prayer time. A peaceful time with music, community, and games for children and just gathering in faith to share with each other.
