Timothy Murphy’s English Bull’s Eye Watch

Britain was the largest manufacturer of watches during the 18th century. Bull’s Eye watches were often symbols of wealth and high social status. The owner of this watch, Timothy Murphy, was a famed sharpshooter during the American Revolution. He is best known for being credited with the shooting of British Brigadier General Simon Fraser during the Saratoga Campaign in 1777. It was sent to us by the Old Stone Fort’s Clay Edmunds.

These cash registers were sold by Henry Kass Inc., a retail business headquartered in Albany, New York. The company was founded by Henry Kass, an expert in cash register systems. In addition to selling cash registers, the business also supplied register accessories and offered repair services.
