Timothy Murphy’s English Bull’s Eye Watch
Britain was the largest manufacturer of watches during the 18th century. Bull’s Eye watches were often symbols of wealth and high social status. The owner of this watch, Timothy Murphy, was a famed sharpshooter during the American Revolution. He is best known for being credited with the shooting of British Brigadier General Simon Fraser during the Saratoga Campaign in 1777. It was sent to us by the Old Stone Fort’s Clay Edmunds.
