The State Police at Mayfield have received several complaints regarding people pretending to be representatives from National Grid. Victims are receiving a phone call from someone pretending to be a representative from National Grid who states that they have to pay a bill immediately or their power will be shut off. The victims are then instructed to purchase Money Pak cards and call a 1-800 number, that is also fraudulent, and provide them with the numbers on the card to pay their bill. The scam appears to be targeting local businesses. The State Police are advising local business owners and area residents to be cautious of any such phone calls.
