Open Mic Night Brings Talent, Fun, and Community to Nourished at Middleburgh

MIDDLEBURGH — If the walls of Nourished at Middleburgh could talk, they'd probably still be humming the tunes, reciting the poems, and applauding the performers from Monday night's Open Mic Night.

The recently redesigned sanctuary-turned-community space at 281 Main Street was filled as neighbors gathered for an evening celebrating local talent. By the time the program got underway, it was standing room only, with friends, families, and community members eager to cheer on musicians, artists, authors, actors, dancers, and poets from around the area.

The event, live streamed on Nourished's Facebook page, marked the return of Open Mic Night after a several-year hiatus, and it was clear people had been looking forward to its comeback. Whether stepping onto a stage for the very first time or as seasoned performers, each participant was welcomed with warm smiles, generous applause, and plenty of encouragement.

Pastor Maryellen Moore kept the evening moving as mistress of ceremonies, adding humor, heartfelt introductions, and even lending her own talents by performing alongside some of the artists. The atmosphere was relaxed, joyful, and wonderfully supportive—a reminder that some of the best entertainment is found right here at home.

One Facebook viewer captured the spirit of the evening with a simple comment: "Such a great time and so many talented people!!! Thanks for having this!!"

Judging by the smiles, laughter, and enthusiastic applause, there are plenty of talented people just waiting for another chance to take the stage.

That opportunity is coming soon. Nourished's next Open Mic Night is scheduled for Monday, September 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Performers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Whether you sing, play an instrument, write poetry, tell stories, dance, or simply enjoy supporting local talent, everyone is invited.

To sign up to perform, contact Pastor Maryellen Moore. Admission is free, and donations are always appreciated to help support Nourished's Blessing Box food pantry (inside the church), which is open Wednesdays from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for both shopping and donations.
