There will be a Celebration of Retirement potluck dinner at the Lexington/West Kill UMC Fellowship Hall on Friday, June 26 at 6 p.m. for Pastor Amy Royal who is retiring from teaching art at Roxbury Central School and Cindy Nelson will be retiring from the Town of Windham after 37 years. All are welcome to attend.
Windham will be a busy place on Saturday, July 4th America’s 250th Independence Day with all kinds of activities during the day including music, food, and much more and the wonderful parade later in the day followed by the outstanding fireworks display in the evening.
The Village of Tannersville and Town of Hunter July 4th celebration kicks off with a parade. Line up is 1 p.m. at Tops, step off is 2 p.m. with the route being along Main Street, Tannersville. Saturday, July 4 is the next Lexington Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. under the pavilion at the Lexington Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, Lexington. Along with the local vendors, the Ladies Aid of the West Kill United Methodist Church will be holding a fundraiser bake sale. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Sunday, July 5 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be Pete’s Car Show at Pete’s Auto in loving memory of Peter Figiel. All makes and models welcome. Bring your ride, bring a chair and enjoy the day. Beer with 21+ ID and hot dogs. Free event held in memory of Peter Figiel, however, donations will help fund the newly established Peter J. Figiel Memorial Scholarship for a local graduating senior pursuing a career in the trades. So come for the music, family fun, friends and Pete’s Pick Award.
Fellowship Lunch will be Tuesday, July 7 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kaaterskill UMC, Main Street, Tannersville. Stop in for the fellowship and a delicious free meal. Fellowship Lunch will be held the first Tuesdays of the month.

Wednesday, July 8 at 11:15 to noon a Healthy Eating Workshop sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension that includes cooking demos, samplings, reading food labels, nutrition info and meal planning will be held at the Jewett Senior Service Center, Jewett Municipal Building.
Potluck Dinner Church will be held Friday, July 17 at 6 p.m. in the Lexington/West Kill UMC, Main Street, Lexington. All are welcomed.
The 16th annual Thunder in the Mountains Car Show presented by the West Kill/Lexington Community Improvement Association will be held Saturday, July on the grounds of the Lexington Municipal Building, 3542 Route 42, Lexington from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vehicles 1995 or newer will have their own class. Trophies awarded, 50/50 raffle, gift basket raffle, food and beverages for a fun filled day. If you would like to donate a gift basket highlighting your business or family or even have an interesting item or two that can be used to enhance a basket that will be put together for the raffle, please call Mary at 518-989-6813. Just a few basket ideas: Movie night; family game night; snack attack, sports; music; pets; gardening, baking are just a few of the suggestions for baskets. All the proceeds benefit the West Kill/Lexington Community Improvement Association.
The Greene County Senior Nutrition Program menu for the week of June 29 – July 3 is as follows: Monday—Beef chili, California vegetable mix, white rice, peaches; Tuesday—Broccoli cheddar fish, Antigua vegetable blend, parsley potatoes pineapple/mandarin oranges; Wednesday—Pork chop with gravy, green beans, sweet potato, applesauce, butterscotch pudding; Thursday—American cheeseburger (bun has gluten), potato salad, marinated carrots, cranberry juice, strawberry shortcake; Friday—Closed in honor of Independence Day. All persons 60 and older are invited to attend. Meals served at noon, suggested $4 donation for each meal. Congregate reservations are required by noon at least a day in advance. If you reserve a meal and are unable to attend, please call as soon as you can to cancel.
