EAST DURHAM - There's just something magical about a summer night in the Catskills when the rumble of motorcycles mixes with the sound of live rock and roll. That magic comes alive once again at the Red Barn Riders RC "FREE" 4th Annual Battle of the Bands Bike Night, happening Wednesday, August 12Th, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the large stage behind the main bar, at the legendary Blackthorne Resort, 348 Sunside Road, East Durham, New York.
This isn't just another battle of the bands. The winning band earns something every local musician dreams about—a paid performance at the legendary Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival right here in our area every September, one of the Northeast's premier motorcycle events. It's a chance to play before thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and music lovers from across the country. CatskillMountainThunder.com
What's even cooler is that you don't have to win to win. Over the past few years, several bands that have taken the Battle of the Bands stage have gone on to become regular performers at both the Blackthorne Resort's famous Main Bar and their incredibly beautiful Tiki Bar. For many local musicians, this event has become a huge launching pad, and that can be seen as the quality of bands applying every year keeps going up. What an amazing line up they have for this years Battle of the Bands, I dare say it's going to be epic!
Of course, music is only part of the story.
The Red Barn Riders RC has built a reputation as one of the area's most community-minded organizations. As an AMA-chartered, 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity riding club, their mission has always been simple—To help people in their area. Throughout the years they've organized and worked with others on countless charity rides, fundraisers, toy drives, benefit events, motorcycle awareness campaigns, community gatherings, and have supported numerous local organizations and families in need. They don't just host their own charity events—they regularly volunteer, attend, sponsor, and lend a helping hand to other organizations working to make the community stronger.
Every June, July, and August, the club hosts its free popular Bike Nights, not only to celebrate motorcycles but to give everyone a chance to meet the people behind the patches. It's their way of opening the doors, shaking hands with neighbors, making new friends, and showing what the biker community is really about—friendship, generosity, and giving back.
And here's the best part...
You don't even need to ride a motorcycle to join the fun!
Everyone is welcome. Whether you ride every day, haven't been on a bike in years, or have never thrown a leg over one, you'll find a friendly atmosphere, great music, and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
If you do ride, bring whatever you've got. Harleys, Hondas, Indians, Triumphs, Yamahas, Suzukis, Kawasakis, BMWs, custom choppers, vintage classics, sport bikes, touring bikes, trikes—all brands and all styles of motorcycles are always welcome at every Red Barn Riders RC event.
The Battle of the Bands is an evening packed with live music, beautiful motorcycles, community spirit, and that unmistakable rock-and-roll biker vibe that makes summer in the Catskills the best place to be.
So grab your friends, bring your family, fire up the bikes—or just hop in the car—and come experience what the Red Barn Riders RC is all about.
One great night of music.
One amazing community.
And one club helping to prove that motorcycles and big hearts go hand in hand.
