Schoharie County Community Foundation Launches Second Annual Grant Cycle

2 min read 1 views

SCHOHARIE — The Schoharie County Community Foundation has announced the launch of its second annual grant cycle, a funding initiative aimed at bolstering local non-profit organizations as they navigate rising operating costs and reduced federal support.

The grant application window officially opened on June 1, and will accept submissions through Oct. 1. Organizers have streamlined the process for this year's cycle, launching a dedicated website at Schohariecountycf.org where organizations can review requirements and submit applications.

Foundation officials noted that this year's cycle arrives at a critical juncture for regional human services amid recent funding reductions at the federal level.

As a community-specific fund, all grants must directly benefit the residents of Schoharie County. Administrators are prioritizing project proposals that address immediate community hardships while establishing long-term financial momentum and fostering collaborative partnerships between regional service groups.

To qualify for funding, applying non-profits must either be physically located within Schoharie County or demonstrate that they provide substantial, direct services to its residents. The foundation has earmarked the 2026 funds specifically for the expansion of existing services, direct project support, and targeted software purchases designed to improve an organization's internal financial management capacity.

Under the initiative's rules, organizations are limited to one application per Tax ID number during this grant cycle.

The community foundation has established strict parameters regarding how the funds can be allocated. The grants are explicitly restricted from funding general operational expenses, administrative costs, capital expenditures, legal fees, independent grant writing services, fundraising activities, or separate grant-making enterprises.

Inquiries regarding the application process, eligibility requirements, or specific project compliance can be directed to foundation coordinators via email at schohariecountycf@gmail.com.
