Schoharie Land Trust Annual Meeting and Program, Aug. 27

MIDDLEBURGH - The public is welcome at the Schoharie Land Trust’s Annual Meeting on Thursday, August 27, 2026, 7:00 p.m. at the Middleburgh Library. A brief business meeting will be followed by a presentation pertinent to the Land Trust's preserves, easement-protected lands and other rural residents -- Coexisting with Beavers.

Matt Perry, Conservation Director and Resident Naturalist at Spring Farm CARES Nature Sanctuary in Central New York, will be guest speaker.

Matt is especially known for his long-term studies of wild beavers and urban Peregrine Falcons, documenting their behavior, family relationships, and adaptation to changing environments. He is co-founder and President of the Utica Peregrine Falcon Project. He is also the author of forthcoming books on beavers and Peregrine Falcons. Through his research, writing, and public programs, he promotes a deeper understanding of wild animals and coexistence with the wildlife that shares our landscapes. An accomplished photographer and videographer, Matt will show some of his close up work researching beavers.

Refreshments will be served along with an opportunity to chat with Land Trust board members and learn of their work protecting the open space and rural character of Schoharie County.
