July seems to be zipping by too quickly. Lots of sunny summer days and some rain mixed in last week. Summit Lake is often quite busy with people fishing, swimming and kayaking.

Got some first-of-the-year sweet corn at Shauls; yum.

The Norwegian soccer/football team lost to England 2-1 but it was a good game and Argentina beat Switzerland 3-1.

Bought this neat Bear Gulch apron, pictured, for the town of Summit archives from Richmondville Antiques and Flea Market. Marion Bird, of Summit, believes it was made in the 1980’s after Bear Gulch lake was filled back up.

Exercise classes by John Steitz 10-11am at Summit Conservation Club, 109 Club Rd., Summit. Sponsored by Summit Community Center Inc.

July 16 – Summit Town board meeting 7pm.

July 17- 4th Annual BBQ and Birthday Party 6-8pm at Summit FD Pavilion. Sponsored by Summit Community Center Inc. All welcome. (for some strange reason I thought it was the 11th)

July 18 – Charlotteville FD Annual Chicken BBQ at 11am and Lawn Sale at 10am.

July 18 – Household Hazardous Waste Collection 8-11:30am at the Schoharie County Transfer Station, 2805 Rte 7, Howes Cave. Call for info. 518-295-8447

July 19 - Charlotteville Schoolhouse Breakfast 8am-Noon - Table service, family-style dining featuring: Pancakes, French Toast, Eggs made to order, Sausage patties, Sausage gravy, Home-style potatoes, Coffee, Tea, OJ - Serving local maple syrup from Terrell’s Sugarhouse and local farm fresh eggs $12 adults, $5 children ages 6-12 children age 5 and under eat for free. Season-long 50/50 Raffle and bake sale by Summit Community Center Inc.

July 19 – Summit Summer Events, sponsored by Town of Summit 12:30-1:30pm at 2861 Rte 10, Summit, Hudson Valley Reptiles.

July 26 - Summit Summer Events, sponsored by Town of Summit 12:30-1:30pm at 2861 Rte 10, Summit, Jim Kopp guitar music.

August 2- Community Covered Dish at West Fulton Park by the schoolhouse noon and Quilt Show at the Methodist Church. Jam and jellies will be for sale at the church. Bring a dish to share and place setting. If it rains go to West Fulton Firehouse. Sponsored by Fulton Historical Society. All welcome.

August 6 – Fulton Historical Society meeting 4pm at 121 Clauverwie Rd., Breakabeen.

August 11-16 – Schoharie County Sunshine Fair

August 12, 1897 Jefferson Courier - Hiram D. Hauer with Miss Mobray assistant, will teach the coming term of school at Charlotteville. L. H. Lincoln of Charlotteville will teach the Summit school. – Summit - Enormous catches of bass are being taken from the lake by our local sportsmen. - Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Stevens of Charlotteville, passed through here last Sabbath. - S.C. and N.C. Spaulding have traded their village property for a farm with J.E. Wharton. - Mrs. T.E. Niles and son of Newark, N. J. are visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. T.O. Burnett. - The boys have organized a 2d baseball nine and will cross bats with Charlotteville sometime this week.
