SUNY COBLESKILL SOFTBALL OPENS 2023 NAC SEASON WITH 10-2 LOSS TO SUNY POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE WILDCATS

Utica, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill softball team took to the road on Friday afternoon to open their 2023 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Western Division season losing to the Wildcats of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute by a 10-2 margin in league action in a game moved to Utica College’s Greenman Field. With the defeat the Fighting Tigers are now 3-12 overall with a 0-1 record in league action while the Wildcats move to 10-4 overall including a 1-0 record versus league opponents. 

The host Wildcats led 1-0 going into the home half of the third inning when they pushed across eight runs to take a 9-0 lead from which they never looked back as the home team pounded out 12 hits on the afternoon.  

Cobleskill was led offensively by junior third baseman Deanna Palmer, Auburn, N.Y., Auburn High School, who was 1-for-2 with an RBI, first-year second baseman EmmaGrace Scileppi, Williamson, N.Y., Williamson Central High School, who was 1-for-2 with an RBI and sophomore catcher Mackenzie Wendelken, Stuyvesant, N.Y., Ichabod Crane High School, who was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. 

The Wildcats and Fighting Tigers will conclude the weekend series on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader to be played at Greenman Field in Utica, N.Y. beginning at 12:00 p.m.
