August is here and Fall is around the corner. When I was a teen, August was my favorite! I could not wait for the fair. I loved going down each day. I would go on the rides, see the shows, and of course go to the animal barns. Now as a Mom, I love to see how much my kids enjoy the fair too! The nights are busy, so we found it easier to get a box seat at the auction. This is the third year we have made that decision. We had to go from a four seater to a six seater because our boys are getting big. We enjoy watching the shows each night. Derby, concert, truck pulls, and tractor pulls, are all a win in our book. Be sure to go out and see the animal barns, ask questions and tell someone you like their animals. Support a small business and take home a memory. Grab a bite to eat. I am thankful we still have something local like this.
Last weekend we had three vendor events. Jeremy went to the Sharon Pathfinders Snowmobile show. I was at the Gathering Place Festival Farmers Market. Sunday we finally made it to Middlefield Flea Market. If you have not been to the Middlefield Flea market, it is the first Sunday of the month. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seth Johnson started it last year. It is in a field with all different vendors and an animal swap. Definitely worth a stop in! He is always accepting new vendors too. We love chatting with our customers. Hearing stories and seeing your smiling faces. Thank you to everyone who supported us this past weekend.
Sunday was a celebration too! We were invited to Colleen's birthday. It was a lovely party, where I got to see Annette Scorzelli. I have not seen this amazing lady in years! It was so good to catch up with her. I met Colleen three years ago at the Festival Farmers Market. She was a vendor next to me. She cares for everyone around her. I found myself talking to her at each market and a new friend in her.
This week may bring a new vendor opportunity for our family. Be sure to check out our Fb Pig Out page to see if it worked out. Seward Farmers and Artisans Market is August 5 and 19 this month. The 19th is school supply night. It is while supplies last. The 19 is also ride a horse to market night too! Market will be 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
Saturday Farm Bureau will be setting up their spot in the Hall of Agriculture building at the fairgrounds. It is also Policy Picnic too. Stop in and share some issues near to you. Policy talk is 12:30-2:00. Farm Bureau is accepting new members and would love to add to our Board as well.
Dalton has been working on his race car. Larson has been helping him , hoping to be part of his pit crew. Dalton must now get the car inspected so he can potentially race this Sunday at Glen Ridge. We would like to thank his first donor Mindy Moore. She is honoring her husband Steve and helping Dalton start up. If he gets to race on Sunday, you know I will tell you about it next week!
