STAMFORD – Tattoo artists don’t just create permanent works of art for the skin. In the upcoming group exhibit Paper + Skin, Headwaters Arts Center will showcase artwork for the wall that celebrates the creativity of eight New York tattoo artists.
This unique group exhibit will be on display at Headwaters Arts Center June 26–August 1, 2026, with an artist reception on Friday, June 26, 2026, 5–7p. Artwork by Laura Bochet, James McIlroy, Susan Pittinger, Irina Schultz, Savvy Simmons, Megan Stack, Jillian Steeves, and Cierson Zambo features a variety of perspectives and aesthetics, from the whimsical to the ethereal.
Often overlooked in the art world, tattoo artists are frequently accomplished in other disciplines. The artists exhibiting in Paper + Skin are painters, illustrators, graphic artists, and printmakers, in addition to being masters of creating body art. They have curated gallery exhibits, painted large-scale murals across Upstate New York, and studied traditional Japanese fiber arts.
Paper + Skin celebrates the impressive creativity and versatility of these artists, whose diverse artwork offers something for everyone.
