STAMFORD — Mt Utsayantha Fire Tower will be participating in the 12th Annual NYS Forest Fire Lookout Association's statewide event. The tower will be illuminated on Saturday, August 30th from 8:30 to 9:30pm. Rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 31st. The tower lighting will be visible from several areas along State Route 23 between Stamford and Grand Gorge , Harpersfield,  and route 10  between Stamford and Hobart. 

The tower and park will be closed during the lighting , as the idea is for everyone to view from the surrounding areas. This event was started as a way of honoring the past tower observers for their service in keeping our rural areas safe. 

Also included is the 2nd Annual Catskills Junction Mt U Tower Lighting and Camp Fire sing along with area musicians. The Shop will be open for extended shopping hours.

A fun event  promoting the history and preservation of our NYS Fire Towers. Don't forget your flashlights, lights,  etc. We will be watching from the tower and signaling back!
