Why Should You Attend Catskill Mountain Thunder 2026?

EAST DURHAM — The Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival is one of the largest annual events in Greene County—and without a doubt, one of the loudest!

Held at the Blackthorne Resort at 348 Sunside Road in East Durham, This year September 15th to the 20th. it brings thousands of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts from all over the United States and beyond.

But if you're a Greene County resident who doesn't ride a motorcycle, you might be asking yourself: Why would I want to go? My answer is simple: because Catskill Mountain Thunder isn't just a motorcycle event. It's an experience—and one that every local should attend at least once.

This is an amazing event that is fun for the whole family. You don't have to ride a motorcycle, own a motorcycle or know anything about motorcycles to walk through the gates and feel welcome.

Imagine taking a giant carnival, a rock concert, a motorcycle show and one huge party and putting them all together in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. That's Catskill Mountain Thunder. You can see high-flying MX stunt shows, the incredible Wall of Death, aerial burnouts, bike games and contests, custom motorcycles and bike builders, national musical acts, vendors, food, social events and much more. There's a huge vendor expo filled with motorcycle gear, apparel, parts and artwork. Add the Tiki Bar, swimming pool, camping, food tents, pub crawls, parties and special events, and there is something happening practically everywhere you turn.

And you don't have to commit to the entire week to discover what makes it special. Get a pass for the whole festival and make a vacation out of it—or come for just one day. Maybe your favorite band is playing. Maybe you've always wanted to see the Wall of Death. Maybe you're curious about the motorcycles, the people or simply want to experience something completely different right here in Greene County. Come with your family, your friends, your neighbors or just come by yourself. Walk around, listen to the music, watch the shows, grab something to eat and soak it all in. You might be surprised by how quickly you find yourself having a great time.

I honestly can't imagine living in Greene County and never experiencing Catskill Mountain Thunder. There is something almost magical about seeing thousands of people come together in the mountains, sharing a love of motorcycles, music, friendship and the freedom of the open road. It has become much more than an event to me—it has become a tradition and one of the things I look forward to most every year. For many of us, it feels like one big family reunion where we get to see old friends and make new ones.

I've said for many, many years that the only bad thing about Catskill Mountain Thunder Motorcycle Festival every year "is that it ends". Once you've experienced the energy, excitement, laughter and incredible sense of community for yourself, you'll understand why so many people come back year after year.

So if you've never been, make 2026 the year you finally check it out. Whether you stay for the whole festival or come for just one day, come see what you've been missing. For more information go to CatskillMountainThunder.com
