Andrea Macko is a veteran local journalist, editor, and newsroom leader with deep roots in upstate New York’s Catskill region. A native of Greenville, New York, she has dedicated over a decade to reporting on the people, community events, and municipalities of Greene County.

Driven by a lifelong passion for grassroots storytelling, Andrea formerly founded and operated the Greenville Pioneer before co-launching Porcupine Soup News in 2020 to bring independent, fast-paced digital journalism to the local region.Her community dedication extends beyond the newsroom, as she actively supports regional preservation and economic growth by serving as the vice president of the Cairo Historical Society and sitting on the board of the Greene County Economic Development Corporation.

As a regular contributor to local journalism, Andrea provides comprehensive coverage on critical small-town beats, ranging from major infrastructure updates and municipal governance to local historical features and tributes to community figures. Her work ensures that the mountaintop and valley towns of Greene County stay deeply connected, well-informed, and actively engaged.
