July 22, 1938 to June 23, 2026
Janet Abrams, of Middleburgh, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
She was born 87 years ago on July 22, 1938 in Rockville Center to Dorothy (Roe) and Joseph S. Morrison and graduated from Malverne High School. Soon after, she married Robert J. Abrams, Sr. on February 6, 1960 and began her new life as wife and mother.
Family vacations to property upstate became full time in the mid-1970s and Janet settled into life in Middleburgh with her traditional strength of spirit and unwavering faith.
Janet worked with the Schoharie County ARC for many years and compassionately welcomed ladies into her home. Ada, Karen and Delight were her closest and they were part of Janet's extended family for many years. She also lovingly cared for her cat Dolly and dog Cocoa, but her dog Toby was hands down her favorite!
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Middleburgh and a member of their Phoebe Circle, making beautiful quilts and baskets of cheer for everyone in need. She also volunteered her time with the local food pantry and served as an operator and home dispatcher for the Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corps for many years.
She enjoyed visiting with friends and meeting new at the Gathering Place in Cobleskill and looked forward to every Christmas, turning her living room into a miniature village wonderland, bustling people, lights and snowcapped trees adding to the scenery.
Loving Janet forever are her sons: Robert J. (June)Abrams, Jr. of Conesville and William Abrams of Middleburgh; granddaughters: Hannah (Jesse) Sells and Cory (Joshua) Billings, all of Conesville; great-grandchildren: Connor and Craig Sells and Aiden, Carson and Piper Billings; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her St. Mark's church family. Janet was predeceased by her parents, her husband: Robert Abrams, Sr. and her brother: Joseph Morrison.
A visitation with Janet's family was held from 10:00-11:00AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 326 Main Street, Middleburgh, with funeral service following at 11:00AM. Burial was made in Breakabeen Cemetery, Breakabeen, NY.
