Our mission is to protect and restore the Upper Delaware River watershed for the benefit of local economies, communities, people, and the environment.
Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR) is the only professionally staffed organization in the Upper Delaware River (UDR) watershed working every day to protect and restore this magnificent cold water ecosystem and the communities that surround it.
FUDR understands that protecting the river must include engaging communities and people, revitalizing local economies, and building strong and diverse coalitions at the local, regional, and national level.
FUDR Bill Canfield Fly Fishing Camp for Kids
Every year Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR) and the Bill Canfield Fly Fishing School partner on a great summer camp program in Hancock, NY that teaches kids (ages 12-17) about the sport of fly fishing and the importance of river conservation. This unforgettable experience with expert guides in a beautiful setting teeming with fish will inspire a lifelong passion for angling adventure and a commitment to sound conservation practices.
The program takes place in Hancock, NY in the headwaters of the magnificent Upper Delaware River in the scenic Catskill Mountains.
Camp participants will learn how to gear up before getting on the water, fly casting, fly tying, basic entomology and river ecology. In no time at all our campers will learn how to handle and release fish after they are caught in a local pond or on the river!
