Hang. Drink. Play. Relax.

Come unwind with us. Take a nap in a hammock, check out the creek, have a beer in the meadow. Relax and remember what it’s like to see a sky full of stars on a real-deal, country getaway.

Around the Inn

The Barn Library is open to everyone (Inn guests! Neighbors! Travelers passing through!) every day from sunrise to sunset. Borrow a book and bring it back any time. (Really, any time. A year later is totally ok with us!) We’ve got loads of novels, some non-fiction, plus kids books, and a whole section of books by our Artist Residents. It’s also where we host special events like art shows, and weddings!

There are six fire pits dotted around the eight acre property for your enjoyment. You've got complimentary wood stacked outside your room and kindling by Room One. Be sure to order some s'mores supplies, then head out and enjoy the plethora of stars. There are also seven charcoal Weber grills you're welcome to use any time. We’ve got complimentary charcoal outside Room One.

Listen to the babbling brook right in the backyard, or bring a rod and go fly fishing! Want a lesson? Contact local legend Judd Weisberg or Catskill Outfitters.

The Bar

OPEN 5-8pm Friday & Saturday, + Sunday on long weekends

Located in Room One is our itty-bitty 3-seat bar where we serve beer, wine, cider, and whiskey, plus a small selection of goodies you can shop to whip up in your kitchenette or at the grills like burgers and s’mores. It’s open to the public, which means anyone can drop by to enjoy a sip inside or in our bar garden. (Fridays in particular are our unofficial locals’ night!) It’s also where overnight guests can swing by in the mornings for complimentary Café Grumpy coffee and Pop-Tarts. Did I mention for the past 5 years we’ve been donating HALF our bar profits to different social and climate justice groups? So drink up, it’s for a good cause!

Meet the Innkeeper

Hey there, I’m Casey Scieszka. I’m a born and raised Brooklyn girl who turns out to have a soft spot for the country. Before moving to the Catskills in 2013, I lived around the world in places as far flung as Beijing, San Francisco, Fez, and quite literally Timbuktu. I’m the innkeeper here. I’m also a writer. My debut novel THE FOUNTAIN just came out this spring with HarperCollins and I’ve got another called FUTURE YOU on the way.

You’ll probably see me around with a tall, bearded guy. That’s my husband, Steven Weinberg. He’s a full-time artist and kids' book writer/illustrator. (All the paintings in the rooms are his!) An avid skier and fly-fisherman, he's right at home here in the mountains. When the Inn is open, we live on site in the white house with our two little kids.

History

This land was part of the seasonal hunting territory for the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy) and Mohicans. The earliest written accounts we have are from a Dutch family —the Van Valkenburghs— who built the farmhouse we live in now in the late 1700s. Since then the property has had many incarnations, from a farm to a B&B to The Schwarzenegger's Sunshine Valley House. Yup. That Schwarzenegger. Want the whole story? Well, you're gonna have to swing by the bar for that!
