MIDDLEBURGH - Community band concerts returned to the Village of Middleburgh earlier this month and the weather was perfect for the concert on Friday night. The concerts are sponsored by the Joint Recreation Commission. The last concert of the season will be Friday at 8pm on the high school lawn.

Middleburgh Celebrates America's 250th
MIDDLEBURGH - It was a red, white, and blue Friday in Middleburgh as America's 250th was marked with a parade, speeches, music, food, and much more. The weather was perfect, hot with clear blue skies for a full day of activities throughout the village. Highlights included a parade down Main Street, the Marge and Randy Becker Award for 2026, speeches at the pavilion on Baker Avenue, music under the pavilion, and more.

MCS Students Open 1976 Time Capsule
MIDDLEBURGH — Generations of Middleburgh school children just connected, although most have never met. Thursday, June 18, members of the Class of 2038 were on hand as the district opened the seal on a time capsule prepared by elementary school children in 2001. They were surprised to find the time capsule also linked back to 1976. The 2001 time capsule had almost been forgotten. By chance, it resurfaced during an office cleanout. Its faded instructions came just in time for the district to fulfill the directive to break the seal on June 18, 2026.
Hamilton, Rickmyre Win Middleburgh Sloughter 5K
MIDDLEBURGH - On a perfect day for an evening race, Michael Hamilton and Laura Rickmyre won the annual Sloughter 5K in Middleburgh. Hamilton, 38, from Oneonta, was the winner with a time of 18 minutes, 15.26 seconds. Rickmyre, 42, was the first female across the finish line with a time of 22 minutes, 28.07 seconds. The top walker was Joseph Tokarczyk, 54, of Amsterdam with a time of 29 minutes, 16.34 seconds and the top female walker was Avah Hagadorn, 9, of Middleburgh with a time of 36:54.44. Fourth Friday Marks Start of Summer for Middleburgh
The streets were packed for the first Fourth Friday of the season last week. There was plenty of music, food, old cars, vendors, and other entertainment along Main Street. The event was sponsored by the Middleburgh Area Business Association.
