Music "Porchfest" Planned for M'burgh

2 min read 5 views

MIDDLEBURGH - After a successful music "Porchfest" last year, organizers are planning another event this fall.

Last fall's event in Middleburgh attracted 30 musicians, all of whom played for free, along with more than 100 spectators at six or seven venues, Jim Snyder told village board members earlier this month.

This year's event will be held on Sunday, September 13 and organizers hope to double the number of venues, Mr. Snyder. The village board agreed to allow "Music in the 'Burgh" to use the porch on the M&S Train Depot as the main stage.

Food trucks will be parked near Badgely Park and visitor parking will be near the park.

Mayor Tim Knight noted that Trustee Bob Tinker has promoted music at the depot. It has electric outlets and is a good spot, he added.

"We are way ahead of the game this year," Mr. Snyder said.

"It's going to be rocking," added co-organizer Rick Hamm.

Venues will also be on Chestnut Lane, Maple and Railroad avenues, among others, they said.
