SHARON SPRINGS — The Sharon Springs Central School Clay Target Team has started their Spring season this April after an excellent Fall! The team is in their 4th competition week of the season and took 2nd place on Saturday May 16th. The last shoot of the season is Saturday, May 23rd.

Team Highlights: HUNTER BOLSTER scored 25/25 on his first round of the day!! This score propelled him to the top scorer of the day with 47/50! He was presented with his perfect score patches from Coach Cori for the NYS Highschool Clay Target League, and also from Mr. Dan for the Sprout Brook Rod and Gun Club. Congrats to Hunter! Not too far behind him was JACKSON RYDER with a score of 45/50; LELAND RYDER with 43/50; REED VANVALKENBURG & AADEN DENNIS with 42/50; HUNTER TANSEY with 41/50 and NICHOLAS THOM with 40/50.

Prior to the shoot, they started the day with a visit from local gunsmith AJ Krupenbacher of Sharon Springs. He talked to the team members about ways that he can help fit their firearms specifically for them, helping them improve their scores. Huge thank you to AJ for taking the time to meet with the SSCS student athletes and their families! 

This year the SSCS Clay Target Team will hold competitions each Saturday at 9 AM now through May 23rd! Come on down to Sprout Brook Rod and Gun Club (1364 State Highway 163, Canajoharie) to support this local team!

This season the SSCS Clay Target Team is in Class 3A Conference 2 competing against: Akron Central School, Copenhagen Central School, Morristown Central High School, Red Jacket High School, Stillwater Central School, and Voorheesville High School.
