SCHOHARIE - In addition to the 2026-27 budget, the Schoharie Central School ballot on May 19 will contain propositions for a bus purchase, library funding, a $3.9 million building project and two school board seats.

The SCS May 19 ballot will include:

* The 2026-27 budget which totals $29.75 million with a 2.95 percent tax levy increase.

* Bus purchase proposition. Voters will be asked to approve the purchase of two 66-passenger buses, one 29-passenger bus with wheel chair lift, and one seven-passenger transportation vehicle for up to $560,000 before trade-ins.

* A proposition for raising taxes for the library.

The proposition will ask voters to approve the collection of $183,000 for the annual support of the Schoharie Free Library Association Library at 103 Knower Avenue. This would be an increase of $22,000. The school district collects the funds and turns it over to the library.

* Incumbent John Florussen and newcomer Jessica Kirby filed nominating petitions for two school board seats.

The seats of Mr. Florussen and Laraine Gell are expiring. The seats are for three years.

* A $3.9 million building project to convert the fuel oil furnaces to propane and remove old fuel tanks. The work will be done at no tax levy increase.
