DELHI — Sheriff Craig S. DuMond announced the arrest of an East Meredith resident for Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

On Saturday February 15th, 2025, while patrolling in the Town of Delhi, Sheriff’s Deputies observed a vehicle traveling over the double yellow line several times. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 31-year-old, Skyler Smith, of East Meredith, New York. During the traffic stop Smith was found to be in possession of a knife that was removed from his person for officer safety. Deputies identified the knife as an illegal switchblade knife.   

Deputies subsequently arrested and charged Smith with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree a Misdemeanor of the New York State Penal Law. Smith was additionally issued a traffic summonses for Failure to Maintain Lane.           

Smith was released on appearance tickets and is to appear in the Town Delhi Court at a later date to answer the said charges.
