Harpersfield Court Criminal Contempt Conviction

HARPERSFIELD – District Attorney Shawn J. Smith announced today that Bradley V. Grant, 35, of Stamford, New York, pleaded guilty as charged to Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, on July 20, 2026, in the Town of Harpersfield Court. Grant appeared in front of the Honorable Judge Musella and was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge, along with fines and surcharges.

On April 12, 2026, NYS Police received a well check call for a potential domestic dispute. Trooper Crystal Rhodes arrived at the location and interviewed the victim. It was determined that the victim’s boyfriend had taken her cell phone away from her the day before to prevent her from contacting her family. The boyfriend had also become physical with her when she tried to take the cell phone back. With some research, Trooper Rhodes found that there was a current order of protection for the victim and the boyfriend was in violation of the order.

District Attorney Smith commended Trooper Rhodes, for her diligent work on the case. “My office has zero tolerance for domestic abuse.”
