Shawn J. Smith is the current District Attorney of Delaware County, New York. He initially took office as the Acting District Attorney on January 1, 2023, following the election of his predecessor, John Hubbard, to the County Court bench. Smith then won the Republican primary in June 2023 and ran unopposed in the subsequent general election to secure his full four-year term.

Raised in Jefferson, New York (Schoharie County). Graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Albany in 2009 and earned his law degree from Albany Law School. Gained early prosecuting experience in Schenectady County, ran a private practice, and served two terms as the Blenheim Town Supervisor. Joined the Delaware County DA's office in 2017 as a traffic and DWI prosecutor. He was promoted to Second Assistant DA in 2018 and later rose to Chief Assistant District Attorney under John Hubbard.
