DELHI — District Attorney Shawn Smith and the Delaware County District Attorney’s office want to recognize Ella O’Leary, a summer intern at the District Attorney’s office, for her work and assistance to the DA and his office.
Ella moved to Delaware County ten years ago and currently attends Delaware Academy in Delhi. Ella is entering her senior year in high school and hopes to study international politics when she enters college in the fall of 2027. Ella has spent the past two summers interning with the District Attorney’s Office.
Ella has done many things in the office, including extensive court observation with DA Smith and several Assistant District Attorneys. She has completed legal research projects, helped draft legal documents, and has also participated in meetings with domestic violence victims to prepare them for testifying. She has also been very helpful in updating the Delaware County District Attorney’s Social Media Accounts.
ADA Susan Mallery stated “We have been fortunate to have Ella as part of our team this summer. From her first day, she has demonstrated a positive attitude, strong work ethic and a genuine eagerness to learn. She approaches every assignment with enthusiasm, completes each task with professionalism, and is always willing to help wherever needed. Her reliability, respectfulness and dedication have made her a valued member of our office, and we are confident she has a bright future ahead. We appreciate her contributions and wish her continued success in all of her future endeavors.”
DA Smith said of O’Leary: “Ella is a professional and intelligent young lady that will undoubtedly go on to have a very successful career. Although she is a senior in high school, the quality of her work matched or exceeded that of college and law school interns. She continually impressed us all with her professionalism, and her willingness to learn and assist my office with difficult cases.”
We thank you, Ella, for being with us for the last two summers and wish you the best of luck as you begin the process of selecting what college you plan to attend!
