Landis Sets Date for Annual Perennial Forest 5K Run in Esperance

ESPERANCE — Landis Arboretum has announced that registration is officially open for the 2026 Perennial Forest 5K Run, a signature regional race scheduled for mid-August through the property's protected acreage on Lape Road.

The annual event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 15, with the race officially starting at 8 a.m. Competitors and casual participants will gather and check in starting at 7 a.m. at the parking area for the Nicholas J. Juried Meeting House.

Organizers describe the Forest 5K as a unique cross-country style course that routes participants directly through the arboretum's diverse fields and mature forests. While competitive awards will be presented to top-finishing runners, the event is traditionally open to both competitive runners and casual walkers.

Registration fees for both arboretum members and non-members are tiered based on the participant's age. Due to administrative formatting, registrations are being accepted through online channels only.

Race coordinators have set an early registration deadline of July 26, 2026. Participants who register by this date will receive an early registration financial discount and a commemorative race shirt.

To ensure the safety of all participants on the trail system, organizers have stated that dogs are strictly prohibited from the property on race day.
